B*Witched
Oh, what a treat! My most referred-to artist finally gets another review. This shouldn't be as horrible as the second album, should it? Interesting at least, as there are tracks I've never heard before.
#1 Let's Go (The B*Witched Jig)
Wow, if this intro didn't have the Irish instruments, it could well be Korean. Points for that.
#2 C'est la vie 9
There's a better song with the same name but this isn't bad either.
#3 Rev It Up 7½
There it is, the rare verb that allows a double v in its inflected form. The song itself is rather useless.
#4 To You I Belong 8
I didn't know all of their four singles from the first album debuted at #1 on the UK charts. That means they must've been a lot bigger than I thought. I have a feeling that I should like this more than I do but well, I don't. Oh, now that I think of it, there's a clear resemblance to Spice Girls' 2 Become 1.
#5 Rollercoaster 8
If this was better, I'd probably long ago have accomplished my goal of learning to sing this while riding the rollercoaster. I think I must give it a score that'll allow it to enter my playlists, so that I might learn the lyrics someday. Although I'm afraid the plainness of the melody will be an equal problem. Get off my list, you lame little thing.
#6 Blame It on the Weatherman 9
Could this really be my favourite track? That's possible, mainly thanks to the title phrase having gathered personal meaning. I still hear "the rainbow song" where I think they're saying "the rain goes on".
#7 We Four Girls 7
Now please please surprise me and give at least one more listenable song. I must be asking too much. How come so many highly successful albums, like this and the Spice Girls ones, have so much fluff on them? Then again, it's very rare an album that doesn't, and those are the ones that get the 9s and 10s on the UFOMETER.
#8 Castles in the Air 6½
If it was Castles in Spain, I'd give an extra point. Once upon a time I was falling in love, now i'm just falling asleep...
#9 Freak Out 7
I don't think I should. You'll have to try harder, I have hear worse in my life. There's some Kylie influence here, I think, even though this must've preceded her comeback. The track is very short, starting to fade out upon the two-minute mark.
#10 Like the Rose 7
Which one? Although I won't want to hear this album ever again, I must admit it's better than the second one.
#11 Never Giving Up 7
I could've probably learnt to like some of these, if I had bought the album back in the days. Nykyään tämä passio on mennyt.
#12 Oh Mister Postman 7
Would it have been too much to ask to have Please Mr. Postman instead? I'm afraid so.
