Eternal Flame, The Best of
After getting into the mood with Kylie, this should be appropriate. However, I think I'm getting sick (physically) but that doesn't have anything to do with this and didn't happen yesterday. I'm shivering and my head feels heavy. Yet there shouldn't be anything physically wrong with me. It must be the emotional stress taking its toll...
#1 Manic Monday 9
I didn't remember at all that this begins like this. Must be because I've only heard this in those commercials for 80's collections... Too bad it's not Monday anymore but Tuesday.
#2 Eternal Flame 10
Don't we all know this one... The original's better than the Atomic Kitten version, I think, especially because of the choir sections. Just how many times can you enter that chorus and make it feel new over and over... Amazing.
#3 If She Knew What She Wants 9½
Also remotely familiar from somewhere. Now that I already almost used the Tuesday card, let's say The Tuesdays is indeed what this reminds me of.
#4 Walk Like an Egyptian 8
The meaning of this I've never understood, but a funny piece anyway. How exactly do you walk like an Egyptian? In 2D, perhaps? Maybe I should make a song called "Walk Like a Dancer" like I've thought... The instruments are just original. [Update 030616]: Ah, the video actually contains what it should, the "walking", unlike some traitorous ones like a certain "brand-new dance everybody's doing" by a certain actress from the southern hemisphere...
#5 I Want You 6½
Did the interesting stuff run out this fast?
#6 Hero Takes a Fall 7
Hmm.
#7 Going Down to Liverpool 6
This might become my lowest-quality review to date, these tracks don't inspire me to write anything and I'm not feeling well. Fortunately it's not an important CD I'm trying to do.
#8 Following 4½
This is getting outright terrible. Something like Shallow Life but much worse. And they call this a best-of... I wouldn't care hearing the ordinary albums...
#9 Hazy Shade of Winter 8
Something better for a change, with a good title. That one good melody line keeps this song above the surface.
#10 In Your Room 6
Blim Blom.
#11 Be With You 9
This is actually not so bad. Quite good, even.
#12 I'll Set You Free 7½
Relievingly inoffensive.
#13 Everything I Wanted 6
Return to Generica...
#14 Where Were You When I Needed You 8
Girls go country for a change, with a melody from "Kauan", the original English title of which I don't remember right now.
#15 My Side of the Bed 8
This CD has definitely taken another turn to the better, though not very good anyway.
#16 Bangles Hit Mix (Medley)
This is not the way you do these fusions. You aren't supposed to just put almost complete tracks next to each other. Maybe I should do one of my own?
