I Will Love Again
I've got a suspicion that I'd tried to review this some time in the past but then lost the file or something. Well, here we go again.
#1 Adagio 8
I still hear her singing "Don't let this lunchbag away", which gives the whole song something special.
#2 Part of Me 7½
I could almost like this. After doing a bunch of hapless Korean ballads, these sound surprisingly refreshing.
#3 Givin' Up on You 7
These sound more familiar than I'd have expected. That must mean I've given this album many chances to convince me.
#4 You Are My Heart 6½
I have no idea why I've voluntarily listened to something like this.
#5 I Am Who I Am 7
Tries to be either funky or rocky but manages neither.
#6 To Love Again (Si tu m'aimes) 7½
Begins promisingly but then doesn't really go anywhere.
#7 You're Not from Here 8½
This could be a good album if all tracks were arranged like I Will Love Again. This, for example, has a good melody but is otherwise way too simple.
#8 Till I Get Over You 7½
Another midtempo. A bit better.
#9 Love by Grace 6½
Was this what was plagiated some years ago in a Baltic preselection? Bad taste, I say.
#10 Yeliel (My Angel) 7
The themes are also off-putting.
#11 I Will Love Again 10
Finally. What do we learn from this? Never buy albums knowing only one track beforehand. Except Korean ones, which are cool even if they suck. This was a big hit for her - why on Earth doesn't she do more material like this?
#12 Broken Vow 6½
I so can't tell the difference between v and w. I'm always trying to write "wov", "wiev" and so on. Stupid me.
#13 Adagio (Italian) 8
No lunchbags but a prettier language.
