Leap of Faith
This I bought (for the reason explained at #1) thinking that "David's better than Darren", which, of course, he isn't.
#1 Leap of Faith 10
I've never quite understood this kind of silent beginnings that encourage you to turn up the volume and then break your ears. I remember well how I was with our modules in a furniture shop in Kajaani and this played on the radio, immediately charming me. Quite the kind of kaihea guitaring Lene Marlin became famous for. Must remember to include this in my next Kaihelma.
#2 Teach Me How to Love 8
Hey, the beginning reminds me of M2M's Don't Say You Love Me. I must say I've become quite apt at recognising influences and digging connections out of the bottom of my mind :]
#3 I Can Take You There 6½
I don't think there's anything I can say about this. It's just so totally utterly generic. Maybe I should take a break and listen to something more cheerful for the rest of the day...
#4 Prisoner of Love 7
Now the first notes gave me an impression of Shakira's Objection. Maybe I'm starting to overdo the influence thing... But he's not even as good a singer as Darren.
#5 It's Alright 6½
For songs called this I have a strong urge to either say alright is just all it is or either "no, it isn't". This one falls into the latter category.
#6 Love Around Us 7
This reminds me of Savage Garden's Lover After Me that I never liked.
#7 Fall into You 9
I think this was supposed to be better. The beginning is so very Darrenish, even his voice almost. Yes indeed, this is better.
#8 If I Don't Tell You Soon 7½
Quite plain but not one of the worst.
#9 Cure for Love 5½
Uh horror. Listening to this certainly cures you of any kind of tender feelings.
#10 All I Want Is You 8½
Maggie Reilly... "Waiting"? Just slightly worse. Would be loads better if the chorus was in minors instead of majors. Funny how these good bits are all scattered around the CD.
#11 She Comes And Goes 8
Oh this is so teen movie soundtrack stuff and would most probably be listened by she-who-should-be-named. The line "She's just so damn beautiful" is fun. I guess "damn" is by far my favourite English four-letter word.
