Rakkauden palapeli
The first Kyröskooppi album I actually have on CD (the first is a cassette) is the natural starting point for reviewing the whole bunch. And today is so totally hot that I really can't seem to be able to concentrate on work without. And apparently also so hot that I can't think straight. Since, of course, this isn't the first but the second HK CD I have and therefore her third (eye) album. This has always been my least favourite of her works. Once again, some reviews will include cuts straight from Parhaat.
#1 Rakkauden palapeli 10
"Another dancey track, a more mysterious one." I can remember seeing this on Huomenta Suomi one morning, for the first time, of course.
#2 Ethän suremaan jää 8
"The only song she's recorded a remix of, to my knowledge. The Ilo-tanssi mix is a lot funnier than this original."
#3 Menneet matkassain kulkee 7
"Questionable cover, quite pseudoartistic. Funny how every other track reminds me of a different game, this one of Columns."
#4 Minä & Alex 9½
" "Tapasin sut tallin kaivolla" like our rents heard, or "Sinä jatkoit riitaa, minä takas Helsinkiin", like the reviewer in Levyraati did. The perfect song for ferry trips or outer space exploration."
#5 Tummasilmäinen 8½
"The few piano blimps in the intro are my favourite in this track in the vein of Suomineito and Tyttö kaksikymppinen. The backing singers create strange effects. Many Heidi songs have very interesting bass lines, also this one." Wow, I've got a lot of quotes so far. Interesting that the ones included on Parhaat are just the first five...
#6 Kirsikkatyttö 7
This could so be a Hilkka Pagánus poem. Reminds me that I should try to compose one of them. Maybe Mandoliini?
#7 Kesä josta me haaveilimme 8
I remember admiring the title for its formal form. This is practically very beautiful but there's something missing.
#8 Itsestään kun antaa 7½
Here the album goes into freemode with this happy-schlager kinda track.
#9 Don Juan 7
And even further. The lyrics are absolutely corny and not in a naïve way.
#10 Sata päivää ja sata yötä 7
What I said about track 7 applies to this as well (except for the title thing).
#11 Romeo 7
Quite similar to Don Juan, though a little less horrible.
#12 Hymyssä suin 6½
This then resembles #8 a lot.
#13 Ethän suremaan jää (IloTanssi-mix) 9
As I've already mentioned a couple of times, this is the only HK track that to my knowledge has been remixed and at least the only one included on an album.
