Summer Special

This is the LJH album that has got by far the least listening, as I've thought "oh, it's the one with Summer Dance and something random", but now I realise that this is actually very good. In fact, it got the highest score of all her albums! That also demonstrates that this is way more uniform in style than her others that are very varied.

#1 Stage 1. Summer Party

Actually it says "disco party" and not summer in this a few seconds' clip.

#2 Summer Dance 10

The excellence of this can't be emphasised too much. Still, among LJH's many megahits, it only just manages a top 5 placing behind Pakkwo, Ari Ari and Wa. The fifth spot would go to Kôntylzima (Ez Life Trance Mix). Wonder why she didn't include this on her first Japanese album? Might've been a hit over there as well...

#3 Ja! 9

"Do you wanna funky music?" would Kim Jong Kook ask. "I do", says the toilet bowl.

#4 Akô 8

Yes, funky is definitely the word to describe this album.

#5 Malhê 8½

Very groovy with funny sounds.

#6 Stage 2. Trance Party

I'd really like to know what a Korean trance party would be like...

#7 Summer Dance (Trance Mix) 9½

... because at least this is just as far from trance as you might guess. Which is just as well, don't we say. Less bouncy than the original but good nevertheless.

#8 Ja! (Hardcore Trance Mix) 8½

Apart from SD, these remixes are like different songs altogether. In our Name That Sample feature competition, I noticed that somewhere in the middle, there's a drum fill that reminds of the beginning of KHJ's Phungsôngwa Khôphylling. It seems a standard that a remix cuts a ½ out of the score.

#9 Akô (Dream Mix) 9

Ooh, this is better than the original!

#10 Malhê (Hyper Trance Mix) 8½

The remix spell seems to be broken. This is very different from the original but equally good.

#11 Nonstop Party + Nonstop Mix

Remixes are always hard to grade. Maybe I'll just check what I gave KHJ's Diet and copy the score. I didn't give any? Okay then, let's not.
