Wanna Be With Me?
After the solid first album, I could buy this without listening to any of it first, and wasn't disappointed. A funny detail is that the printing on the CD itself says "Wa0th me?", most likely some kind of an error. All in all, I didn't even remember how very good this was, might even be one of the best non-best-ofs I have.
#1 Wanna Be With Me? 9½
For their second long play release they decided to reverse the marching order of majors and minors by releasing two minors tracks as the first two singles. Much more powerful and also otherwise functional than its equivalents on Da Sound, this was probably a good first single.
#2 In Your Dreams 9
Then back to the good old style. Not as good as the first album's singles but not much behind them.
#3 Wonder Where You Are 9½
Somewhat ligther than the first single, with a latin influence similar to Darren Hayes's Insatiable that I reviewed yesterday. In addition to that I get an association to one of the two rap songs I've ever liked, The Navigators' Superstar. This original version is so much better than the remix on More Than Alive.
#4 Stronger Than Words Can Say 9½
Much like Your Love Will Shine on Me (and the rest of them in the same time). Likewise, this was also the third single. The "technical problems" with the voice towards the end are neat but have the problem of mentally affecting every other chorus as well.
#5 Sorry Baby 10
Surprisingly, my biggest personal hits are not at the very beginning of this album. Maybe this track was some presentiment of Alive?
#6 This Night I'm in Love 10
The background sounds remind me of Steps' Only in My Dreams. There's not much I say say to comment on these tracks, the quality of this album is simply breathtaking. There's not much else I can do than just to listen.
#7 Together as One 7½
Obligatory slow insert, in the middle this time. Old-time eurovisiony ballad with no actual traits.
#8 Let the Music Heal You 9½
Progressive and groovy, further proving that the tracks in minors are stronger on this album than they were on the first one. Not without significance is neither the fact that now they've also began to modulate in these :]
#9 Keep on Loving Me 8
What is this, another slow one? Turns out more as midtempo and not very special.
#10 Key to My Heart 10
Very traditional, but why alter a winning formula? The beat fills in the last chorus are my favourite detail.
#11 I Go Crazy 8½
The first track actually straightly resemblant to the tracks in minors of the first album (how I do hate the complicatedness of the English language in these things...). An interesting choice as the last track.
